Commercial Superintendent-Solar
Job Description
We are seeking a General Superintendent to serve as the senior field leader across multiple solar construction projects. This position oversees work from planning to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to exacting quality standards. The General Superintendent manages field personnel, drives productivity, enforces safety and code compliance, and acts as the on-site authority for project execution.
Core Responsibilities
· Travel full-time to project sites across Central Valley, Northern California, and Santa Cruz.
· Direct and prioritize work assignments to optimize efficiency and minimize risks.
· Act as the key point of contact between crews, project managers, clients, and utility companies.
· Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, manufacturer instructions, and applicable codes (NEC, UBC, OSHA).
· Oversee several Public Works solar projects simultaneously, maintaining schedule, budget, and safety goals.
· Conduct regular job site visits for progress checks, safety inspections, and issue resolution.
· Recruit, train, and supervise field teams, including apprentices.
· Approve payroll for self-perform crews and oversee daily field documentation (JHAs, reports, safety notes).
· Partner with the Safety Manager to enforce safety programs and facilitate ongoing training.
· Utilize construction management platforms (Procore, MS Project) for tracking budgets, schedules, and materials.
· Monitor labor, materials, and mobilizations, reporting variances and projecting final costs.
· Collaborate with project managers to resolve field issues impacting cost, schedule, or quality.
· Manage administrative tasks such as inspections, training records, and project closeout deliverables.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma (required); degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
· 7+ years of construction field experience, including at least 5 years in a superintendent or senior leadership role.
· Journeyman or Master Electrician license from CA
· OSHA 30 certification required
· Must pass background and MVR check.
Skills & Expertise
· Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
· Proficiency with Procore, MS Project, or similar construction management tools.
· Thorough understanding of NEC, UBC, OSHA, and other relevant codes.
· Experienced in large-scale commercial and public works projects, ideally within solar or electrical trades.
· Strong knowledge of sequencing, labor allocation, and productivity optimization.
· Civil construction and public contract experience is a plus.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
