Cable Splicer Technician
Job Description
Looking for a Cable Splicer in Glenrock Wyoming who will be working with others who have a working knowledge of all aspects of substation/line work and have the capability and expertise to work independently if required.
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adheres to all Company Safety and Health Policies while in the course of conducting Company business.
- Climbs power poles and steel towers.
- Works on energized lines, low voltage and high voltage.
- Constructs, maintains and repairs overhead and underground electrical system and equipment up to 60 KV.
- Performs high voltage field switching, including working with energized high voltage equipment with approved hotline tools.
- Performs rubber glove work on voltages up to and including 21,000 volts.
- Drives and operates specialized vehicular equipment.
- Required to work on ladders, and at times, out of an aerial lift bucket.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work with others and maintain a positive image in the work place.
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include walking, standing or climbing for extended periods of time and operating assigned equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
- Knowledge of electrical safety practices, knots and rigging.
- Knowledge of principals of rubber gloving voltages up to and including 21,000 volts.
Physical Qualifications
- Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted.
- Capable of working from hanging ladders, walk boards, or baskets on booms for clipping, dead ending cond., etc.
- Walking and working across uneven terrain.
- Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions
- Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
